Weirdos, Queerdos, and Abbe!
Abbe Aronson's been a customer of ours in Provincetown since our first season and we always enjoy when she and crew are in town at the end of the summer. She has been a fan and supporter in the off-season as much as during her visits to Ptown. We have shared a number of no-holds-barred conversations over the years and were thrilled when Abbe asked if we would be interested in being the subject of an upcoming blog post.
Abbe's substack is titled "What's Shove Got To Do With It" and is described as:
"Thoughts on dating and sex for Young Olds, as I like to refer to my demographic, with an occasional recipe thrown into the mix and a helluva lot of sidebar conversations. Full of candid smartassery, but with a deep dark luscious center that is love, lust, and life at 55+. I’m gonna tell it like it is and I’m so happy you’ve come along for the ride.
We had a chance to speak over a couple days at the end of August and Abbe managed to get some great shots of the shop and had me being as candid as possible. Authenticity is important for the business and our conversation was uncensored. We wanted to share it with our customers, click the photo for the complete blog post.
"I fell in love with Adam the moment we met. In general, I ABHOR slogan t-shirts or for that matter, anything with writing on it and here was a veritable treasure trove of tees that were produced/created in support of all of the bleeding-heart liberal/commie/queer causes that I champion – I changed my tune about slogan tees on the spot.
"Besides operating as a retail hot spot here in town, Adam’s Nest is a hub for those curious about gender/social/sexual politics and related lifestyle. Got a question about queer relationships? There’s a fantastic bookshelf that awaits your browsing. Interested in knowing more about Stonewall era activism? Sure thing, would you like your education to come in the form of a shirt, a magnet, or a piece of art? Just feeling, well, a little gay? Do I have a button or baseball hat for you! AND – besides stocking the shop with the most civically minded merchandise around, Adam also gives back to various causes and orgs on top of the percentages that are built into your purchases. In other words, he walks the walk. He talks the talk. Oh, and he’s super-hot and single.
"At the time of writing this post, there are 69 days till the election – how fitting! I spent an hour with Adam, chatting about politics, pussy, power bottoms, et al, sometimes stepping outside of the shop to make space for the endless parade of customers that came by – which included little kids, old queens, trans teens, goth 20somethings, twinks, bears, you get the drift."
Over the years it's become clear Abbe's a convert as evidenced by a few pics in our gear. We had a terrific time sharing and hope you enjoy the conversation.
