I first became aware of Paul's work via the Summer Diary Project:
"Paul Specht learned to take photographs and develop them in his Dad’s darkroom growing up outside Boston Massachusetts. Paul works as a portrait and wedding photographer in New England and across the country. His influences in photography have included masters such as Duane Michels, Diane Arbus, and Bruce Davidson to his current favorite contemporary artists, including Asia Kepka, Kelly Grider and Ron Amato. The highlight to every summer is escaping with his husband Eric and his dog Miss Roxie to Provincetown. It has been a favorite destination for years and where many of his portraits capture not only the feel and personality of the model, but the serenity that is PTown. “The relationships that have been formed there over the past 10 years are like none other”. Paul is currently working on his series “the Self Portrait Series”. His goal in portrait photography is to dispel the myth that we need to look a certain way to model for art and photography…. “everyone is worth capturing.”
His love of Provincetown and regular visits staying next store ensured our path's crossed. Since opening Adam's Nest in Provincetown I'd been hounding Paul to show his work. I'm thrilled to show some of Paul's digital collages this summer in store. You can see more of Paul's work on his Instagram and tumbr accounts.
